For plenty of years I was living in just one city. Actually, it was the same one in which I was born, in which I made first colleagues, went to first school, where I met my first boyfriend et cetera. This small city in which I grew up was for me the whole word. At that time I probably wasn’t even able to imagine any other place. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t even thinking that they exist. Definitely, I was seeing them in tv and so on. Unluckily, they seemed to be so unreal that they were quite abstract, so didn’t even seem to me like real places.
I never really went for holiday thus hadn’t been to any place other than my small town. I know that it might sound a little ridiculous but It was almost 22 years ago, thus I am positive that it was pretty typical situation at that times in our country. Specially for kids like me – kids born not in a state city, as well as in rather poor family. After many years of staying in the same place, I eventually got a chance to see a word.
And you may not believe me, but when I started, I simply couldn’t stop. I have been travelling for last 20 years. I have visited each the continents and almost forty countries overall. Some of these places I visited just as a standard tourist, but in some of them I was really living for a moment. Definitely, it has many advantages. I was able to meet many new guys, know different cultures, become familiar with lots of different towns and their history and so forth. Most of my colleagues keep on repeating how jealous they are about this. But sometimes I have the thought that too often they don’t remember that moving to new cities has also many disadvantages.
Nowadays, it is not so bad. When you move to new town, you might easily find really detailed info about almost everything you like, for instance, where to hire a motorbike in padova or where to print in nyc. But only imagine to find this kind of information a while ago, when internet was not that fashionable yet. I can recall that sometime it was even hard for me to find out where I can find cheap but decent meal. I really think, that the hardest part of living in new cities is to get familiar with new place, surrounding and so forth. However, I still like it the most too.
